Lesson 7
Today you are going to be learning about copyright and the Creative Commons solution.
Copyright is granted the moment something is created, so unless explicitly told otherwise, we have to assume any picture, video, or other media we find online is fully covered by copyright law, which means that no one else can make copies or post it online without permission.
Sometimes, we want people to share our work so that more people can see it. The Creative Commons (CC) license was developed to help content creators have more specific control over how other people can use their work.
1. Watch the video below, and then work on the "Licensing Your Work" worksheet with your partner. On the first page, you'll brainstorm reasons why a content creator might want to include each component in their license. On the second page, you will need to evaluate each scenario and decide which of the six components is the least restrictive but still addresses the needs and concerns of the content creator.
When you are finished, turn in your worksheet to the tray on the counter, and go to Code.org to work on Lesson 7 individually.
